Superintendent Search
The Cook County School District 130 Board of Education is beginning the process of selecting the District’s next Superintendent of Schools. The Board is committed to conducting a transparent, inclusive, and efficient search that will result in the appointment of a highly qualified, and visionary leader to guide the District into the future.
To support this process, the Board will engage a professional search firm with demonstrated experience in educational leadership searches, particularly in Illinois. The firm will assist the Board with:
- Establishing a clear search timeline and process
- Developing a leadership profile informed by Board and stakeholder input
- Engaging families, staff, and community members to ensure broad participation
- Recruiting and screening highly qualified candidates through a regional and national search
- Presenting a slate of candidates, and coordinating finalist interviews
- Supporting the Board in maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and fairness throughout the process
The Board’s goal is to begin work with the selected firm commencing on July 1, 2026, and to complete the search during the 2026–2027 school year. The appointment of the next Superintendent of Schools is expected to be effective July 1, 2027. Updates will be shared with the community as the process moves forward.

July 1, 2026
- Work with selected search firm begins

- Community and stakeholder input sessions
- Development of Superintendent leadership profile
- Recruitment materials prepared and posted
October–December 2026
- Candidate applications accepted
- Initial applicant screening, background checks, and reference verifications
- Preliminary interviews conducted
January–February 2027
- Presentation of qualified candidates to the Board
- Finalist interviews scheduled and conducted
- Board discussions and deliberations
March 2027
- Possible on-site visits to finalist candidates’ current Districts
- Community and stakeholder feedback considered
- Board prepares for final decision
By April 1, 2027
- Board selection and approval of next Superintendent of Schools
- Contract negotiations finalized (if requested)
July 1, 2027
- New Superintendent of Schools assumes leadership of Cook County School District 130

The Board of Education welcomes stakeholder input as it begins their search for a new Superintendent for Cook County School District 130. The feedback collected will directly inform the leadership profile and selection criteria.
All responses are anonymous and confidential. A complete report summarizing all community engagement results will be published on the District website.
