December , 2009 Dear Parents and Guardians, I want to thank everyone in the Nathan Hale Community for all the great work you have done thus far this year. I am seeing amazing progress in all of the children and that is a testament to the hard work being done by all. In an effort to improve communication, we have created an on-line school calendar. If you clink on the School Calendar link to the left you will see updates about coming events. Let me know if you have ideas for things we can add to this. I am pleased to report that both Nathan Hale Primary and Intermediate students did well on the ISAT when viewed as a whole. However, we must not be complacent. We still have students who are not where they need to be academically and we are working very hard to fix this. Your child may be attending after school academic programs. We are making every effort to provide extra instruction to every student that needs it. It is our hope to continue these programs right through the end of the school year. We take the job of educating every student very seriously and are constantly seeking to improve how we do things. I encourage you to give me a call or send me an email if you have ideas. We have started a fundraising committee recently to help us raise the necessary funds to offer all the programs that we need on a consistent basis. I am grateful to the parents who came to the first meeting and are already doing things to help us with fund raising. Our meetings will be the third Thursday of every month in the media center. You may have noticed that I have been making an effort to be outside in the morning to help with traffic flow issues. I think it is making a difference and I will continue to do so. I am now thinking about how to improve the afternoon dismissal. I would love to hear from you if you have ideas that we can implement. If you have any questions you can e-mail me at jduggan@district130.org Sincerely, Jim Duggan Principal
