Summer School

 

Summer Programs 2019:

8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

Important Information for Parents:

  • Students are expected to wear their uniforms throughout the Summer Programs.
  • Meals: 
    • Daily breakfast will be provided for free through the Seamless Summers program starting at 7:45 A.M.
    • Students enrolled in the Summer Programs are expected to be in class by 8:00 A.M., and they can have their breakfast during morning meetings.
    • Seamless Summers will remain available to offer free breakfast to any community members under the age of 18 until 8:30 A.M. on the days of the Summer Programs.
    • Lunch will not be provided.
  • Arrival:
    • On-Site Traffic flow 
    • Students must be present for 8:00 A.M. attendance in their classroom
    • Excessive absences or late arrivals may affect enrollment and/or successful completion of the Summer Programs
    • Parents can drop students off at the front doors (Door 1)
    • Students arriving on buses will enter through west lot (Door 10)
    • Bus route information 
  • Dismissal:
    • On-Site Traffic flow 
    • Buses will load for dismissal from the west lot (Door 10) around 11:50 A.M.
    • Bus route information 
    • As buses dismiss, parents can begin picking-up students at the front doors (Door 1) between 11:50 A.M. and 12:00 P.M.
    • If a parent has arranged an alternative way for the child to be transported home, please communicate this with the office by 10:30 A.M. to ensure that the message is relayed properly.

Programs:

  • Rising First Graders:
    • Students receiving additional supports related to the foundational skills and concepts of literacy and mathematics; Participating students must have been enrolled in a Cook County School District 130 kindergarten during the past school year.
 
  • English Learner Camp:
    • Students receiving additional supports to further develop communication and academic skills related to language development; Participating students must be English Learner students that were enrolled in a Cook County School District 130 first- through seventh-grade program during the past school year.
 
  • Summer School:
    • Students receiving additional supports related to skills and concepts of literacy and mathematics due to not meeting their grade-specific promotion criteria meeting during the academic school year; Participating students were enrolled in a Cook County School District 130 first- through eighth-grade program during the past school year. Students will be compared to the promotion criteria again at the end of the Summer Programs to determine if they will be promoted to the next grade level.
