Newsletter for the 2016-17 school year

El Noticiero para el año escolar  2016-17

Thanks to pledges that were made during our Walk-a-thon in October, we were able to purchase these benches for our courtyard.  Now with the nice weather classes can go out and enjoy this great addition to our school.  Thank you, again to the friends and families of Paul Revere Primary.

Recycled Wreath Challenge

Mrs. Hull’s second grade classroom, at Paul Revere Primary, participated in the Shedd Aquarium’s "Recycled Wreath Challenge" in Chicago, IL. Working together as a team, the students made a holiday wreath made of 100% recyclable materials that celebrated the theme, "Water Wellness".

Each student wrote an essay to answer the contest question, "How does protecting our waterways, conserving resources and responsibly enjoying the environment promote water wellness?" Although all the students wrote an outstanding essay using a variety of resources only one essay was submitted to represent our entire classroom for the challenge.

Our classroom wreath and essay hung in the Caribbean Reef exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium during the 2016 holiday season and earned a first place blue ribbon as the "Fan’s Favorite" wreath in the contest!  Each student in Mrs. Hull’s classroom was awarded 5 tickets per person to attend the Shedd Aquarium with their family during our SD130 winter break thanks to the generosity of the Shedd Aquarium.
