PBIS March Monthly focus: RESPECT

Our PBIS Goal for this month is RESPECT. The teachers have been using their “Morning Meetings” to discuss and reinforce our school’s PBIS Expectation. Each classroom that displays respectful behavior during Fine Arts/PE, lunchroom/recess, as well as in their classroom will be recognized with a “gold coin”. At the end of the month, we will celebrate our school’s accomplishment with the help from our Student Council. Stay tuned...

NWEA MAP: Student Growth Goals
NHI teachers have begun to set spring reading and math goals based on their students’ winter MAP scores. The teachers are working closely together to generate content specific strategies while increasing the level of rigor in each classroom. I strongly encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to see how you can become involved with helping your child reach their goals by spring.

NHI Parent/Teacher Organization Events
Congratulations to our PTO on another successful school wide event, the Valentine’s Day Dance. Over 150 students participated in the dance. We would like to thank all of the parents/guardians and teachers who volunteered their time to ensure every student who attended the event had an enjoyable experience. We are hoping to continue the fun on    March 23, as PTO will be hosting a “BINGO NIGHT” 6-7pm.   A flyer will go home soon. The funds we raise goes back into our school community for our students, so your contribution as well as your participation at the PTO events is truly appreciated! Stay tuned for April’s PTO Event- Spring Ice Cream Social/Movie Night.

PARCC Test
In April, our 4th and 5th grade students will take the PARCC Assessment. The PARCC Assessment is computer or paper based with a focus on English/Language Arts and Mathematics that will measure how well your child is progressing in the skills and content. For more information on ways, you can help prepare your child, please visit the link: http://www.parcconline.org/images/Parent_PARCC_Checklist.pdf. Most importantly, we encourage you to keep your morning and evening routines the same as this will help to decrease the level of anxiety your child may experience.
Spring Vacation-March 27-April 4
