Concepcion Calderon started her career in education 15 years ago as a third-grade teacher in Chicago. She has taught Grades 1-8 in dual language, self-contained bilingual and ESL programs. In 2012 she became the Bilingual Curriculum Coordinator for Evanston/Skokie School District 65, and was later appointed principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Evanston. In 2013, she was awarded the Illinois State Board of Education Exemplar Award for creating a positive school climate at her school.
Mrs. Calderon grew up in Chicago and is bilingual, with Spanish being her first language. She holds a Masters in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education, a Master’s in Education from Northern Illinois University, and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Marketing from DePaul University. She also has endorsements in ESL/Bilingual, Language Arts, Social Science and Middle School.
