Principal's Message

Greenwood School is filled with smiles on the faces of students and staff! We are anxious to implement the new additions to our instructional program this year, and watch the learning unfold!
Daily PE: Our students are increasing their movement and agility with physical education for 30 minutes every day. The children are focusing on their flexibility, endurance, and strength while developing healthy habits.
RtI (Response to Intervention): As a result of the implementation of Daily PE, the classroom teachers have an opportunity to enhance student learning with research-based literacy and/or mathematics interventions.
Core Reading Curriculum: This past summer, the District 130 Board of Education adopted the reading series Treasures by MacMillan/McGraw-Hill. Teachers will be provided with ongoing professional development, and the children are buzzing about all of the new books!
SEL (Social Emotional Learning): Parents are the first role models and educators of their children. The entire Greenwood staff employs best practices in SEL instruction including: creating safe, caring, supportive learning environments; integrating SEL concepts into the core curriculum.
Guests are always welcome to stop by and visit any time. Be sure to sign the visitor log in the main office, and bring your photo ID. We look forward to meeting you!
Have a wonderful 2011-2012 school year!
Theresa Gonzalez-Silva,
Principal
