Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to George Washington School, the only kindergarten through fifth grade school in District 130.

Coming back to school gives us all an excellent opportunity to remind you that this school serves your “CHILD”. We’re here to give your child the very best education we can, so that one day they will be successful adults and citizens. Every year the educators, paraprofessionals, secretaries, and custodial staff rededicate themselves to this task and we settle for nothing less. We must also remind you that this very important task involves a devoted staff that not only works tirelessly here, but they are working before school, after school, as well as weekends.

For the last four years the staff and students had been successful meeting the Illinois State Standards. This year the results show we are maintaining growth in Math, and experiencing a decline in Reading. Every year the State of Illinois raises the expectations for students and teachers and we fell short of the State’s Goal in 2010.

Next year the goal is even higher (85% of the students should meet on the State standards). We will continue to present our students with a strong curriculum; we encourage you to speak with your child’s teacher often so you can do your part at home. This is the time to remind your child that they have a responsibility to work hard as well.

What will we offer your child each day they attend “Your School”? We offer them a personal relationship with people that serve your child. We offer them high standards that are meaningful and we offer them a safe learning environment. We offer these services to ALL CHILDREN, EVERY DAY.

Queridos Padres y Tutores,

Bienvenidos a la Escuela George Washington, la única escuela en el Distrito 130 de Kinder a 5to Grado.

Regresar a la escuela nos da una excelente oportunidad de recordarles que esta escuela sirve a su “HIJO/A”. Estamos aquí para darle a su hijo/a la mejor educación que podamos dar, para que así algún día sean adultos y ciudadanos exitosos. Cada ano los educadoras, para profesionales, secretarias, y el personal de mantenimiento se rededican así mismos a esta meta; y no nos conformamos con menos. También debemos recordarles que esta importante tarea consiste de un personal dedicado que no solo trabajan sin descansar aquí, pero también antes, después de la escuela así como los fines de semanas.

Durante los últimos cuatro anos el personal y los estudiantes han sido exitosos en reunir las expectaciones del Estado De Illinois. Este ano los resultados enseñan que estamos manteniendo nuestro crecimiento en Matemáticas, y estamos experimentando una baja en Lectura. Cada ano el Estado De Illinois sube las expectaciones para estudiantes y maestras y no alcanzamos las Metas Del Estado para el 2010. El próximo ano, las expectaciones son mas altas (85% de los estudiantes deben cumplir las normas del Estado). Seguiremos presentándoles a nuestros estudiantes un plan de estudios fuerte, vigilaremos frecuentemente el progreso y pondremos personal de apoyo en lugar como sea necesario. Los animo a que dialoguen con la maestra de su hijo/a frecuentemente para que así pueda hacer su parte en casa. Este es el tiempo de recordarle a su hijo/a que también tienen una responsabilidad de trabajar duro para sobresalir y que TODO el personal de George Washington también tiene la responsabilidad de trabajar duro.

Que le ofreceremos a su hijo/a cada día en “SU ESCUELA”? Les ofrecemos una relación personal con la gente que sirven a sus niños/as. Les ofrecemos normas altas significativas y ofrecemos un ambiente seguro de aprendizaje. Ofrecemos estos servicios a TODOS LOS NINOS CADA DIA.
