Principal's Message

The staff and I are eagerly anticipating the dynamic teaching and learning we have prepared for the 2016-2017 school year. While still aiming to reach our academic targets through lessons aligned with Common Core State Standards, we have incorporated new interventions to our curriculum that are sure to enhance the productivity of our students. One of the programs we have added is Stride Academy, a computer-based program that is designed to increase student knowledge in the areas of reading, math and science.

Students will now be evaluated based on the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) test that is linked to Common Core State Standards. This performance based test requires extensive knowledge of concepts in the areas of English language Arts/Literacy and math, so it is very necessary that students attend school every day and are prepared to learn. Therefore, the support of our parents and families are of the utmost importance. I encourage parents to get involved and play an active role in your child’s education.

I am very pleased to have the opportunity to serve as your principal of Kerr Middle School. I know the value of a home-school connection and the positive impact it has on student achievement. It is with great excitement that I have added Coffee with the Principal meetings on the third Tuesday of each month. These meeting are intended to allow parents to discuss their ideas for improving our school, express their concerns, to offer suggestions and to become active participants in our school. At Kerr Middle School our mission is to provide a safe, caring and welcoming environment that caters to individual student strengths  while preparing them for life challenges that lay ahead.  The staff and I are all committed to providing the best education your child can receive. We will make a positive difference in the life of each child and we will make this year successful for all of our students.

Our families are welcome to visit our school.

Sincerely,

Bridgette K. McNeal, Principal
