Greetings Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2016-17 School Year!
Last year our motto was "Grow to Great." We set out to achieve growth across all of our schools, and I am proud to say that we continue to make great strides thanks to the hard work of our students, teacher, support staff and parents.
Another result of this hard work was our Strategic Plan, which was adopted by our Board of Education in May. This document outlines four goal areas (Curriculum, Climate and Culture, Alignment of Resources and Community Collaboration), as well as the strategies and action steps that will guide us over the next three years. During the development of this plan, we also revisited our Mission, Vision and Core Values, which reflect our commitment to creating a culture that fosters a trusting, collaborative and equitable learning environment for all members of our school community.
This year, we have the opportunity to welcome a number of new administrators to the District 130 team, including new principals at Whittier, Lincoln, Nathan Hale Intermediate and Veterans Memorial Mioddle School. I'd also like to introduce Mrs. Colleen McKay, our new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. These administrators have a wealth of experience in education, and we look forward to their leadership this year.
I am excited to see all of you soon and to work together for another succussful and rewarding year in District 130. "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!"
Dr. Tina Halliman
